Installations and Events, 1951-1953
Scope and Contents of the Records
This collection consists of eighteen scrapbooks, and one compilation of loose pages, comprised of photographs, invitations, programs, announcements, and newspaper clippings documenting events and installations at the Clark Institute between 1951 and 1996.
The 1951-1953 album contains photos of the construction of the 1955 building, clippings relating to the founding and progress of the Institute, and information about early exhibits. Two albums, one including a catalog, are dedicated to a 1967 exhibit by Wildenstein of objects on loan from the Clark. The remaining albums present a chronological picture of musical performances, exhibits, parties, school visits, and other events through 1996.
The scrapbook titled Photos of Misc. Old Loans is undated. The bulk of the loans therein include furniture and silver objects. The scrapbook titled Photographs of the Construction of the Service Building is also undated, but contains exterior construction photographs of the 1964 Service Building, which later housed the Williamstown Art Conservation Center. New Addition Photos contains exterior construction photos of the Manton Research Center ranging from 1968-1971.
