Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Series IV, Outside Organizations, is comprised of records related to a specific business, museum, non-profit, or other entity collaborated with or contacted by the Clark during Michael Conforti’s directorship. Organizations in this series include J.P. Morgan Chase, FRAME, The Kriesberg Group, The Mellon Foundation, The Explorers Club, CEVA, EXTRA!, as well as multiple museums across The United States and abroad. Some of these museums and galleries include The Norman Rockwell Museum, The Otsuka Museum, Neue Galerie New York and Museo National de Prado in Barcelona, Spain.

The relationships established between these organizations and the Clark sparked many collaborative events and exhibitions, including "Renoir in Algeria," "The Clark Brothers Collect," and the many international museums which exhibited the Masterpiece Tour of the Clark's permanent collection (2010-2014). Also included are businesses in the general area of Williamstown and Berkshire County, Massachusetts, such as South Adams Savings Bank, Southern Vermont Art Center, North Adams State College, and The Colonial Theatre. Papers within these files are comprised of correspondence, business details, appeals for the capital campaign, and general inquiries to and from The Clark. Copies of the Clark's Annual Report are also included in the this series.
