Silver Catalogue-style sheet
Scope and Contents of the Records
The records in this collection cover the development process of books, exhibition catalogues, and other publications created by the Clark. The bulk of the material is composed of essay drafts, correspondence, invoices, and purchase orders regarding the 1998 publication of Farewell to the wet nurse: Etienne Aubry and images of breast-feeding in eighteenth-century France and the 1997 publication of English, Irish, and Scottish silver at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. From the years 1973 to 1998 much of the correspondence is addressed to Mary Jo Carpenter in the Office of Membership and Public Relations and Mary Ann McSweeny in the Curatorial Office.
This collection covers historical changes in the internal organization of the Clark. Material dated prior to 1998 was created before the establishment of the Publications Department.
This collection remains open to revision upon intake of new material.
